Voice for the Voiceless Woman Sierra Leone

We amplify the voices of women, girls, and persons with disabilities-challenging harmful norms, promoting equality, and creating safe, empowered communities

Mission Statement

Our mission is to amplify the voices of women, girls, and persons with disabilities by challenging harmful practices, advocating for equality, and fostering safe, empowered communities. Through education, advocacy, and open dialogue, we strive to create positive, lasting change for those who are often unheard.

Vision Statement

We envision a world where every woman, girl, and person with a disability is not only safe and respected but also free to live and lead with dignity, equality, and opportunity.

About Us

Voice for the Voiceless Woman (VVW) is a registered, women-led, community-based organization founded in 2010 in Bo District, Southern Sierra Leone. Born out of the urgent need to uplift the silenced voices of women, girls, and persons living with disabilities affected by harmful traditional practices, VVW has become a powerful grassroots movement for gender justice, dignity, and human rights.Officially registered with the Ministry of Social Welfare and the Bo District Council, VVW has spent over a decade working at the intersection of tradition and transformation. We are a voice, a safe space, and a catalyst for change standing with survivors, advocating with communities, and empowering those who have long been pushed to the margins

What We Do

Ending Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C)

VVW actively challenges the harmful practice of FGM/C through survivor-led campaigns, safe space dialogues, and strategic community engagement. We believe in transformation from within—working hand-in-hand with traditional leaders, local influencers, and youth champions to shift deeply rooted norms and foster alternative rites of passage

Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment

Our work is grounded in the belief that gender equality is not just a goal—it is a foundation for development, peace, and community wellbeing. Through leadership training, rights awareness, and mentoring programs, we equip women and girls with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to rise as agents of change.

Community-Led Dialogues and Partnerships

We believe sustainable change comes from within. That’s why we foster inclusive dialogue between generations, working alongside parents, elders, chiefs, and young people. Our partnerships with schools, religious groups, and civil society actors ensure that our programs are locally rooted, culturally sensitive, and collectively owned.
